Civil War Class Goes to Gettysburg

In October students in Mr. McDonalds’ Civil War and Reconstruction class, an 11/12 grade History elective, traveled to Gettysburg, Pennsylvania for the weekend. While there, they toured the battlefield and the town with licensed guides, saw the cyclorama, and visited the Shriver House Museum, which was a home during the battle. Before the visit, they read about the Shriver family, and how they and their neighbors coped with the Confederate occupation of the town. Students also experienced a number of reenactments, including a Union artillery demonstration and a Civil War era chuck wagon. Another opportunity, courtesy of the Annual Fund.
