Tim Quinn Appointed Director of Athletics
Tim Quinn, who is serving as the Interim Athletics Director this school year, was previously the Associate Athletics Director. He is in his tenth year at Grace having taught Physical Education here in every division, as well as coached middle school girls basketball and baseball, and varsity boys basketball winning Coach of the Year in 2016. Tim was also the founding coach of the varsity golf team and coached for five years.
Tim has served as the league president of the Athletic Conference of Independent Schools (ACIS) since 2020 and has been the Championship Committee Site Coordinator for NYSAIS since 2021. Tim played baseball at Manhattanville College and was an assistant men’s baseball coach for four years after graduation. Before coming to Grace, Tim was an assistant physical education teacher at Friends Seminary.
Head of School Robbie Pennoyer said, “Tim has distinguished himself as a leader at Grace, developing a reputation here and throughout the city for his wise advocacy for student athletes. I am confident that his leadership will help Grace continue to be a school where our teams are successful and where our athletes are recognizable as Grace students not only by the uniforms they wear, but by their hard work, fair play, respect, and joy.”
Tim holds several degrees related to his work: A Master of Arts degree in Physical Education from Manhattanville, a Master of Arts degree in Athletic Administration and Coaching from Concordia Irvine, and a Master of Education degree from St. Rose with advanced degrees in school building and school district leadership.
Tim said of his appointment, “Grace is my second home. I am passionate about sports and have a strong belief that participation in athletics can provide students with life-long lessons that they may not be able to learn elsewhere. The support from my coaching staff, the faculty/staff, administration, and families has been overwhelming, and I am excited and honored to have this opportunity.”
Tim has two boys, Connor, 5, and Tyler, 1, with his wife Kate who is also an educator.
